Shame is a normal reaction to a lack of love.
It is the primary source of so much of our suffering and, sadly,
endemic to our modern world.
Shame might feel so familiar, like the air we breathe, that we don’t even consider that
lack of love or harsh self-criticism to be anything other than a normal part
of the relationship we have with ourselves.
When we hold shame in our systems, we might experience:
* Love as a scarce resource and even withhold warmth from ourselves.
* Codependency and difficulty leaving situations that aren't right for us.
* Chronically “working” on ourselves and not enjoying life.
* A lack of self-trust and disconnection from the Other world.
* Feeling that we aren't good enough, no matter what we do.

Unworthiness does not exist in nature.
Feeling unworthy of love, not good enough to enjoy life or share our gifts with others...
this is NOT our natural state.
Shame points us to where we have not been loved, where we are not yet free.
It shows us where we have made unconscious agreements in our lineages and cultures
to be loyal to suffering as a form of love.
It reflects to us where we have come to embody the shadow of lineage and culture; what has yet to be felt and metabolized as loss from what our ancestors endured.
Shame shows us where we have made an identity out of a lack of love and also points to the true self within that wasn’t seen, held or nurtured.
These places where we might feel a deep separation from our innate goodness are the places where we can open allow the healing medicine of GRACE to flow.
The thing with shame and a psychological, overly intellectual way of approaching ourselves, is that we think we have to do all this intense work on ourselves, by ourselves.
But, we do not.
The manner in which we tend to these aspects of self is crucial.
We can approach healing and spiritual practice from a place of self-abuse OR as a way to invite grace and deep love into the places within us that are starving for liberation.

Much of what we carry does not belong to us.
We can bring our shame, prayers and offerings to the Other world….
Our ancestors can help us to heal that which needs to be healed in our lineages.
The earth will willingly receive our grief for not having been loved the way we needed.
The crossroads will show us the path to walk, the gifts to bring that will assist us in transforming all this pain into something beautiful.
It is through gently meeting the fear within our shame that we
open to the grace of love itself.
As we open to love, we can embrace ourselves and learn to trust in the emergence of the deepest held prayers from the parts of us that haven’t been loved before…
Because those parts hold power, genius and the deep medicine of what it is to love…what it is to live in a loving world.
And, they are aching for our attention.
Would you like to discover a compassionate, generative and holistic way to tend to the parts of yourself that haven't been loved before?
