Many of us can sense it before we're able to name it...
An often silent disconnection from our creative power, vitality
and inner authority.
It feels like something is missing.
⚜ We question our instincts.
⚜ Insecurity swallows the inner spark.
⚜ We judge the body while denying ourselves nourishment, compassion and joy.
⚜ Shrinking back from our gifts, truth and knowing feels like status quo.
⚜ We seek outside of ourselves for validation and permission.
⚜ Self-sacrifice feels like loyalty to love, and to the system.
This isn't just personal, it's archetypal.
It has a name.
The Mother Wound.
The Mother Wound transcends the relationship we have with our mothers.
It's a rupture at the heart of the feminine that is transmitted through lineage.
It bleeds through the fabric of patriarchal culture that fears her power.
It asks everything of her while requiring her to suppress her authentic,
primordial and erotic feminine expression.
Without an intact archetypal Mother in the system,
we internalize her wounds while we long for what we know to be true.
The initiation of the Mother.
A necessary, developmental function on the feminine path that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with having children.
Mother is the creational aspect of the feminine who reigns over her life.
She births life, beauty, magic and love of all kinds into the world as a natural aspect of her being.
Mother is erotic, vital, primal, creative, compassionate,
nourishing and foundational to our existence.
She is the body, heart and soul of our being.
When we feel a wound of separation from HER we
extract from our own life force.
We abandon ourselves while struggling with self-love and owning the
true power of our creative nature.
We doubt our gifts, diminish our wild instincts and seek initiation through a
disconnected, broken system rather than through HER.
Tending to the heart of the Mother Wound is a through-line all the way back to remembering HER and how SHE lives in our bones.
That ache for HER is the way home.

The Black Madonna is the Cosmic, Primordial Mother.
She is linked with the Great Mother Goddess who pre-dates Christianity.
Her roots can be traced back to ancient Egypt and beyond.
Most cultures across time and space have sculptures and art based on
the Divine Mother and Child.
Black Madonnas started to emerge in Europe as early as the 3rd Century.
She has had a cult following for a millennium and for good reason.
There is as much mystery surrounding who she is as there are
miraculous stories of healing.
Ancient texts document pre-Christian visions of her, as well as her primordial elemental connections to caves, stones, mountains and sacred waters.
She is the mystery within the divine mystery.
The sacred, nourishing darkness.
The cosmic womb of ALL of creation, including the light of consciousness itself.
Many Black Madonnas carry their own stories of wounding that mirror the historical, patriarchal wounding to the Mother and primordial feminine.
Her power, light and unconditional love endure.
What endures is the beacon of light that can guide us home.
One of the most powerful ways we can tend to the broken heart of the Mother Wound is to heal our relationship with her.
When we are able to purely connect with the Black Madonna as the Dark Primordial Mother, she can assist us to heal not only the personal mother wound, but the ancestral one too.
She holds us in her infinite, wide and wildly loving embrace and dissolves the scars of lineage, religion and culture.
We meet her.
We merge with her.
We become her.
She becomes us.
The Black Madonna is Queen of Heaven.
The Dark Alchemical Mother.
The Great Mother of the Underground.
The Mother of Us All.
She yearns for you as much as you yearn for her.
If you have ever felt the pull to the Black Madonna and her mystery,
but not the institution itself…
If you love her in the wild places, the dark primordial liminal spaces, at the crossroads, in all her phases of the moon or in the faces of women who have lost, endured and risen anyway…
This is for you.

I am a grief doula, psychospiritual mentor, initiated Dagara diviner and Hungarian-American medicine woman with a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies.
My life's work has culminated in founding the Dreaming Awake Institute and Global Online Community.
