The Fall season calls us to gather the last of the harvest and reorganize our lives in preparation for Winter's embrace. It's also the season of death.
It’s no accident that this time of year draws us toward our ancestors,
that we feel the veils thinning between worlds.
This is why.
As the trees release their leaves, shifting from vibrant greens to hues of red, yellow, and brown, they carpet the forest floor. These fallen leaves rest on the earth, decaying and becoming fertile ground, feeding the seeds of new life that will burst forth in the Spring.
We do not think often of death—until it arrives unexpectedly in our lives.
And, when it catches us off guard, it’s easy to lose our footing.
We have been taught to see death as wrong, as a kind of failure, so it can feel really scary.
Yet things fall apart all the time.
Change is the only constant in life.
In Westernized culture, death has been cast aside, disconnected from our daily lives and spiritual practices.
We’ve buried the wisdom of death in fear and avoidance, leaving little space to honor its sacred nature or receive the teachings it holds.
The more we push death away, the less capacity we have to approach it with reverence so that we can access the wisdom within its mysteries.
The way we approach death is connected to the ways we approach life and really, truly living the life that is meant for us.

The Mysteries of Death carry profound teachings about how to live.
When we approach not only what is dying in our lives, but also make space to contemplate our own mortality, something miraculous opens up.
Life becomes more vivid and real.
What is true makes itself known in a way that liberates us.
Many of us have grown complacent with our dreams and desires,
forgetting that our time here is brief.
We remain bound in patterns or roles that are misaligned with love or our soul’s path, because we’ve lost sight of life’s preciousness.
It’s so easy to get lost in the mundane, taking life itself for granted, which can dim the sparkle of our Eros.
Yet our human nature is woven into the life/death/life cycle—a rhythm that honors impermanence at the heart of creation.
This is the wisdom at the heart of the archetype of Scorpio:
Death feeds life.
Life feeds death.
Death feeds life.
Death does not have to be a terrifying or unspiritual thing.
What if we could redefine the role death plays in our lives?
What if we allowed it to enliven us, to reinvigorate our passion and purpose?
When we create sacred time to sit with Death's Mysteries, we can allow ourselves to be nourished, healed, awakened, and clarified by them.
In this way, we lay down the seeds for what will become fresh, fertile soil
in the next Spring of our lives.
During this ritual masterclass, we will:
❅ Explore our relationship to death--what we fear, what we believe, and how it shapes us.
❅ Contemplate our own deaths as a way to derive deeper meaning and insight
into how we want to live our lives and show up at this time.
❅ Participate in a group healing ritual with the Tree of Life, including gentle breathwork.
❅ Integrate the wisdom and clarity that emerges, creating a strong and clear
foundation from which to move forward.
Together, we will rekindle the flame of our own becoming and let the wisdom of death guide us into deeper, more passionate living.

About Your Facilitator and Guide: Dr. Mia Hetényi
|
I am a grief doula, ritual facilitator, initiated Dagara Diviner, and a Hungarian-American medicine woman with a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies.
My life's work has culminated in founding the Dreaming Awake Institute and Global Online Community. It is my vision to foster conscious, loving and generative spaces for grief tending, ancestral healing and recovering our sense of interdependent humanity through remembering both the healing technology of ritual and the spiritually transformative nature of grief.
